Ok, so, I have been following Uab4d faithfully and have been getting
more and more annoyed with both the lack of traffic, and the traffic
that we have been seeing of late. As Rob Bos recently pointed out in a
post, the problem began when we tried to move to a new format, i.e.
CGIab4d, and escape the SPAM we were dealing with in Uab4d. Some felt
this was a bad idea, and it looks as though they were right. First, we
lost all the spongin' and others who sparked much of the conversation in
Uab4d, so traffic dropped off in CGI. Then ab4d in CGI broke for many
people, and due to time constraints in Shadur, who took over
administrating CGI when Deadlock retired from doing it, it has not been
fixed yet. So, now we don't have any traffic in CGI at all, and the spongin', pot heads, lamers, and dweebs have moved into Uab4d. The few Jihadii that still do actually post try, but it is not enough. We need to put out a general call to all JAO members to, oh, I don't know, GO BACK TO USENET!!! In other words... Get your asses back into Usenet ab4d any way you can, even if it IS dejanews' new annoying format. While we are at it, how about moving back into alt.barney and alt.tv.the-jihad, and all the other groups we used to frequent. Post stories, opinions, episode reviews. Maybe a recruiting drive, or a new OP to get people active. Heck, there aren't even regular postings of FAQs for most of the JAOs anymore. If we don't get some activity started up again soon, then (and I don't care how much Mal will flame me for this) The Jihad WILL DIE! No matter how many people want to dispute it, it is almost dead as we speak. With no activity it stagnates, and with stagnation comes death. Sure, there are a few individuals that will keep trying, but there are not enough to sustain the Jihad currently. We used to be strong, but now we can't seem to even have a thread last more than 3 posts. The annoyatrons that have moved into the group do more activity than we do. This has to change, and it has to change now. The JAO leaders need to get together and start pushing their members to get back to life. Summer is over, school is back in session, and the summer net-deads should be ending. This is the time to try and spark the college kids back into activity, and to remind the just plain inactive ones that they need to participate. Maybe we need to re-evaluate the member lists and trim the inactive members from the rolls. Well, time to get off the soapbox. It is time to go post something to Uab4d to try and spark some discussion. Rev.
