Mystery Men
Ok, what can we say about this film. Well, if you are looking for classical
grand cinema or the next Citizen Kane, you will be dissapointed. If you
want to see a fun film that makes fun of the whole Comic Book Superhero
Genre, then this is your film!
An all star cast, featuring Ben Stiller (Reality Bites, There's Something
About Mary), Hank Azaria (Simpsons, Godzilla, Gross Pointe Blank),
William H. Macy (Fargo, Pleasantville, ER),
Paul Reubens (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Pee-wee's Playhouse), Janeane
Garofalo (Clay Pidgeons, The Matchmaker, Truth About Cats & Dogs), Greg
Kinnear (As Good As It Gets, Dear God, Sabrina), Wes Studi (Deep Rising,
Heat, The Doors),
Louise Lasser (The Night We Never Met, Frankenhooker, Mary Hartman Mary
Hartman), and Geoffrey Rush (Shakespeare In Love, Shine, Elizabeth) make
this film move with a comic intensity I have rarely encountered in a film..
This film wasn't the greatest movie I have ever seen, but it was fun if
you don't go in taking it too seriously. Plus, at the beginning of the film
William H. Macy pulls his car into the driveway, running over a Barney
doll, and he then rips it's head off. Worth admission just for that, and
there were just so many funny things that happened throughout the film I
was pleasantly surprised (I originally only went because one of the kids
wanted to see it).
